Similar testing is going to be done in Kolkata soon.
Sources said Bharti Airtel and its Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia have commissioned their 5G field trial network at Mumbai's Phoenix Mall in Lower Parel and will soon conduct similar trials in Kolkata.
The Sunil Mittal-led telecom company is conducting trials in the 3500 MHz band using Nokia's 5G Gear. Sources said the tests have provided speeds of over 1Gbps with ultra-low latency. This information has come out from a spokesperson of Nokia India, it can also be said that this has been confirmed by Nokia itself.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has recently allotted 5G trial spectrum in 3500 MHz, 28 GHz and 700 MHz to Airtel in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru to build India- on the next generation fast wireless broadband technology. Contextual use can be scaled up in a big way. The department had also allotted spectrum to Jio and Vodafone Idea in the same band.
Earlier this year, Airtel became the first telco in India to test 5G on a live network in Hyderabad using spectrum in the 1800 MHz band. Airtel's network is sufficiently ready to launch commercial 5G services in the country soon after the availability of sufficient spectrum.
There are only a few more months left for the stable 5G network to be rolled out in India. The Department of Telecom (DoT) has allowed Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea to conduct 5G trials in India. Airtel recently tested its 5G network speed at its Cyber Hub in Gurgaon. The company had operated its 5G other network trials in the 3500 MHz band which was approved by DoT.
Now a new report has revealed that Jio has started testing its 5G network in Mumbai. An ET Telecom report states that Mukesh Ambani's company is using mid- and mm-wave bands with a standalone architecture for 5G trials in Mumbai. Let's know about Reliance Jio 5G network test in Mumbai ...

Reliance Jio starts 5G testing in Mumbai
Reliance Jio has started 5G test trial in Mumbai. Earlier Airtel had conducted 5G network trial in Gurgaon. According to the report, Jio is using mid- and mm-wave bands. The company has prepared its 5G gear for trial. According to the report, the company is in talks with other 5G vendors like Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung etc. to start 5G trials in other cities. Jio has already applied for trials in Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and Hyderabad.
