Gone are the times, when any country or global organization tried to bring India under pressure by showing eyes.  Today everything has changed in Modi Raj.  India talks eye to eye and is giving befitting reply as and when.  In the Green Passport dispute case, India has given a stern warning to the European Union, saying that if the European Union does not approve the Indian vaccine Kovashield and Covaccine, then India will also implement a retaliatory policy regarding the vaccination certificate.  In such a situation, India will not accept the vaccine given to a person in Europe and travelers coming here from Europe will also have to face a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

The immediate effect of this warning of India has been seen.  On Thursday, July 1, 2021, eight European countries, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland and Spain have approved the Kovishield vaccine as a digital certificate.  Now the Covishield of Serum Institute of India has been included in the Green Passport System.  In fact, India had requested to notify Kovishield and Covaccine in the European Union's digital Covid certificate, so that citizens going there from India do not face any problem.  At present, a vaccine passport is very important to travel to any country.  Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla had also appealed to the Government of India to raise this issue at the diplomatic and political level.

Relief for Indians traveling to European countries

Now the inclusion of the Kovidshield vaccine by eight countries of Europe under the Green Passport scheme has brought great relief to Indians traveling to these countries.  In fact, a large number of people from India want to travel to European countries for jobs or studies, but they were facing problems due to not being allowed to link Indian vaccines to the green passport system.  India had raised the matter with the European Union several times.

 What is Green Passport System?

The European Union's Digital Kovid Certificate Scheme or 'Green Passport' system is a facility in which after taking both doses of the vaccine, it is linked to the digital passport.  Under this, people who have received vaccines authorized by the European Medical Agency (EMA) will be exempted from travel restrictions to European countries.  In fact, Covishield was not yet approved by the European Union, due to which Indians currently did not have a green pass to go to Europe.  The European Union has started the Green Passport System with effect from 1 July 2021.
